Directions

1 Step

Wash the rice. Add ghee in a pan and allow it to heat sufficiently. Now add rice and roast for 5 to 7 minutes.

2 Step

Instead if roasting rice, wash them with water and soak for 1/2 hour.

3 Step

After milk starts boiling, add roasted or soaked rice into it. Stir milk with a spoon and after kheer simmers, reduce the flame. Kheer prepared on low flame tastes more scrumptious and keep stirring kheer after every 2 to 3 minutes (kheer starts burning at the bottom). Add cashews.

4 Step

It takes 1/2 hour for making kheer. Now you can see that rice and dry fruits have turned soft and kheer has got thick in consistency. Add sugar in kheer and cook for 2 to 3 minutes. Kheer is ready.

5 Step

Turn off the flame and add cardamom powder into it.

Conclusion

Take out kheer in a bowl. Serve piping hot and relish eating. You can even keep it in refrigerator to serve chilled. Chilled kheer taste more delicious. Decorate with chopped nuts.
